Hi there, My name is Pascal Hahn. I already talked to ramereth about hosting some stuff for the gentoo people. I just need to know how much space and how much bandwidth it needs to host and what kind of access you need for the box. The box is a redhat enterprise box which is connected with a very fast 100 mbit line. If any information is needed please write an email. Tnaks and Greetings, Pascal
Hi Pascal, If you have not started mirroring gentoo you can get directions how to do so at: http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/source_mirrors.xml With regards to space requirements, we are probably hovering around 80-90GB, with the election to not mirror 10-15GB of that due to old releaeses not being mandatory. Once you've started mirroring, paste a URL to the repository and I can get you going on becoming a mirror. Some information I'll need is a contact, organization name, if you are providing ftp/http, etc. Thanks, Jeffrey
Here is the data to the server. ftp://gentoo.laufwerka.de
the userlimit is not set, i have only set a speedlimit to about 25 mbit. Greetings, Pascal
there is no traffic on the mirror, can anyone perhaps set in the lists? Thanks, The organisation: Laufwerk: A Pascal Hahn Leonberg p.hahn@laufwerka.de Deutschland The box is a P4 with 2 Gb of ram and a serial ata raid. The speed is limited to 25 mbit. The box is up constantly. Its located in a big datacenter in germany. Pascal
Apologies on the mirror bugs, I have been a bit swamped with university, but should be able to get to it in the next few days. -Jeffrey
Apologies on the very late reply, as I have been swamped in real life. This mirror last synced on 6th. Do you still wish to be a distfiles mirror?
sure. i just need to setup the resync. i will do this in the next week and will rereport then
I just picked up this old bug, and seems the timestamp is even older: Wed, 06 Apr 2005 04:06:48 +0000 Reopen the bug if you wish to still become a gentoo mirror. Please read the instructions on syncing as distfiles mirrors must sync every 4 hours to be considerd current. Thanks.
