The main site is http://www.fabforce.net, it has been acquired by MySQL AB We must use the binary package because it's a delphi/clx application. And yes it's really a wonderfull app (only used under windows). Toralf, if you can't/don't want to make that ebuild I will do it in your place.

My apolgies I've misunderstood which dbdesigner you were speaking about, the one from fabfource btw is already in the portage tree. Sorry but I'm not interested in another mysql webtool since I'm very satisfied with phpMyAdmin. Again, my apologies
The binary I saw a few months ago is sadly linked with XFree libs (deprecated), not Xorg. So, on recent system upgrades, it will fail on all distros. Else, you can recompile it from source...
My inclination is that dbdesigner (the fabforce.net one) is not worth having in the tree. It's a binary package and comes with libraries for MySQL-3.23. I couldn't get it to work properly at all, since it wouldn't load the libmysqlclient library. All of which is a real shame since it seems like a very nice tool for doing design with UML diagrams (something I don't think phpmyadmin is too great for). However I am told that the company was bought be MySQL AB and will be one of their primary GUI tools, perhaps once 5.0 is stabilized.
