X.org (xorg-x11-6.8.1.902) dies each time after glxgears launch. ATI driver is ati-drivers-8.8.25-r1. The same result with the 6.8.0 and previous ATI driver version. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. opengl-update ati 2. glgears Actual Results: X.org dies and I got the console login: prompt. Expected Results: glgears should test OpenGL rendering FPS score. I have tried the most recent xorg-x11-6.8.1.904 and got the same problem with it. Ok. Finally all troubles solved. The reason /dev/agpgart device absense. That was due I didn't noticed changes in the 'hotplug' functionality. After 'emerge coldplug&&rc-update add coldplug boot' I've got AGP and Profilic usb-to-serial bridge drivers loading automatically as with the previous 'hotplug' version. Now I have stable xorg-x11 with the 2D and 3D acceleration. $ glxgears 8813 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1762.600 FPS 9864 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1972.800 FPS 9862 frames in 5.0 seconds = 1972.400 FPS (II) fglrx(0): [drm] loaded kernel module for "fglrx" driver (II) fglrx(0): [drm] DRM interface version 1.0 (II) fglrx(0): [drm] created "fglrx" driver at busid "PCI:1:0:0" (II) fglrx(0): [drm] added 8192 byte SAREA at 0xe0e4e000 (II) fglrx(0): [drm] mapped SAREA 0xe0e4e000 to 0xb7cea000 (II) fglrx(0): [drm] framebuffer handle = 0xc0000000 (II) fglrx(0): [drm] added 1 reserved context for kernel (II) fglrx(0): DRIScreenInit done (II) fglrx(0): Kernel Module Version Information: (II) fglrx(0): Name: fglrx (II) fglrx(0): Version: 8.8.25 (II) fglrx(0): Date: Jan 14 2005 (II) fglrx(0): Desc: ATI FireGL DRM kernel module (II) fglrx(0): Kernel Module version matches driver.
