Possibly you shoud add app-arch/unzip to the ebuild-dependencies of app-antivirus/vlnx to extract the virusdefinitions without errors.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge app-antivirus/vlnx on a clean system without app-arch/unzip
2. run vlnx-cronjob manually

Actual Results:  
An error like "unzip? never heard of it!"

Expected Results:  
I guess, no error?
