mod_fcgid is a binary-compatible replacement for mod_fastcgi with better process management.

Created attachment 49357 [details] mod_fcgid-1.04.ebuild Sent wrong ebuild, sorry. This one looks better.
Is there any hope of seeing this into the tree reasonably soon? We'd like to use it on www.g.o but it has to be in the tree, says master Ramereth.
mod_fcgid rocks. It is much better than mod_fastcgi. Quick look at the ebuild looks good. +1 from me.
Created attachment 54332 [details] mod_fcgid-1.05.ebuild New ebuild for new release using new apache eclass. Not retested on x86 but I assume it still works. Tested on amd64 & sparc (Ultra I) Please guys, new need this in the tree for www.g.o

Xavier, apologies for the delay. I'll get this into the tree today (later on this evening to me more precise). Btw, are the www.g.o rotation servers running >=apache-2.0.52-r3 ? If not, we'll need to do an old-style ebuild that doesn't use the apache-module eclass as well..
Yes, all our servers are using the old-style and will be until the new style has all the kinks worked out. I actually have an ebuild almost ready for committing, just hadn't had time to go through it again to double check everything with it. I can upload it here, but to see everything just look at: http://gentoo.ramereth.net:8000/www-apache/mod_fcgid/
committed into portage
Created attachment 62995 [details] mod_fcgid-1.06.ebuild Small version bump to mod_fcgid-1.06. Old ebuild works without problems.
I'll look into it later today

In case anyone is looking for an ebuild that works with current ~apache: Drop the mod_fcgid-1.05.ebuild and its files/20_mod_fcgid.conf in your overlay, rename the ebuild to mod_fcgid-1.06-r99.ebuild, compute its digest and emerge. Not tested on x86 but I assume it still works. Tested on amd64 & sparc (Ultra II)
Reopening - we really need an ebuild compatible with new apache layout in portage, because the new apache is stable now.
There's already one in there :) its 1.06-r1, just ~arch masked.
Doh, I'm a dumbass.. its in my overlay :-). Let me test it out and then put it in the tree. Sorry about that.
Added new ebuild for new layout (finally).. sorry it took so long. Its currently marked ~x86 and will get marked stable in a few weeks.
