Building root on PPC-Linux fails. The problem is that the sub-program xrootd has a static file xrootd/src/xrootd/config/ARCH which lists ppc-linux as unsupported, but the listing shows egcs as the compiler. Compiling xrootd with gcc works. Patching this is somewhat ubnoxious, as xrootd is a gzipped tarball within the main root tarball, and is extracted by the makefile itself. Thus I'm submitting a new ebuild which patches the makefile and copies a patch file, which then patches xrootd after its extracted but before its built.

Maybe the PPC arch team could look into this?
Um, this problem seems to be fixed upstream in the latest release (4.04/02).
