Hmm, don't know why this should happen, also works for me. Could you please post your output of emerge info? Also could you try to emerge openoffice-bin and see if that also happens there?

but could you try to remerge openoffice-bin to see if it still emerges fine?
I can tell you that it emerged fine, when openoffce-ximian was not anymore emerging. I had a dead hd and had to install gentoo from scratch, and when I wanted to do the openoffice-ximian emerge it failed. That's why I had to go for the ugly pig and use the non-ximianed version;) I'll try it right now again. It works, I just re-emerged openoffice-bin and had no problems. thanks for your help! e
