Description JoWilly 2005-01-21 07:45:48 UTC
Hi,

This is the bug I have posted on bugs.kde.org:
(someone also posted this problem to the gentoo forums several months ago, but could not get any help)

----
I have installed kde-i18n Thai (TH).

The Thai font is too small, compared to the English fonts.

When default font size = 12, then EN font = 12, but Thai font looks like 9.

At font size 10,11 12, the Thai font does not get bigger (it stays at 9) (does this mean that the Thai font is at fixed size ?).

The next bigger Thai font, is at 14, but then the EN font is much too big.

As it is now, it is not possible to set a correct font size for a confortable desktop.

Could you please fix the Thai fonts, so that they are at the same size as the English fonts ?
-----

And this is the reply I got:

---
this is either a Qt or a X problem. Did you a search in the linux@thai forums (no idea what they are)?
---

Could you please fix the thai fonts size, so that KDE can be usable in Thai ?

 Thanks.

cjk herd: Can you help out?

Steps to reproduce this problem:

1. LINGUAS="th" emerge kde-i18n (I merged version 3.4.0_beta1)
2. set KDE user language to Thai
3. Go to KDE control-center desktop fonts setup, and you will see that the thai font is smaller than the English font.

This version of kde-i18n is not in portage any longer. Is this still a problem with latest version?
Comment 5 Wulf Krueger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-31 20:34:32 UTC
For 3.5.7, it's back from the dead:

ftp://ftp.kde.org/pub/kde/stable/3.5.7/src/kde-i18n/kde-i18n-th-3.5.7.tar.bz2

I've added "th" back to kde-i18n's LINGUAS and checked it in.

Could someone test if this is still an issue? I can't find the appropriate fonts (not to speak of the fact that I wouldn't find my way around in KDE with Thai fonts activated. :) ).

I can't seem to find anyone able and willing to try this. If someone tests this and it's still broken, please re-open.
