Description Gernot Kohlhaas 2005-01-21 03:58:52 UTC
I've upgraded to gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.10-r5 lately.
Anything works fine so far...
Only fbsplash doesn't exactly act like it should...
Explanation:
I can only have ONE Background image for all tty. Every tty looks the same with exception of the text, which is aligned like it should be in the specified theme...
With other words: The theme-cfg gets loaded, but the images doesn't. The image from tty1 is used for all ttys.
Now I'm running gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.10-r6 and it's not any better...
Before the Kernel update this just worked fine...

Second issue:
When the Kernel trys to blank the tty (screensaver), anything that's out of the Textbox is blanked, but in the textbox the rest of the splash-image remains and the text gets black.
I hope I've explained it correctly...
It's nothing important, but it's strange...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Upgrading my kernel from 2.6.9-rx to 2.6.10-rx
2. Configuring and building like usual
3. Trying to set different themes for different ttys
4. Waiting until the kernel blanks the screen...

Actual Results:
It's described in the details already...

Expected Results:
fbsplash should have displayed the themes for the different ttys correctly and
the screen should blank correctly.

I've tried solving the problem through recompiling splashutils...
But it didn't work...

Comment 1 Gernot Kohlhaas 2005-01-30 04:29:58 UTC
Okay...
It seems, that the problem with multiple themes is solved since 20th January (according to spocks Changelog).
All I have to do is wait for a new gentoo-dev-sources release (2.6.10-r7 for example)

So the only bug left is the one with black text on theme-background when the kernel is trying to blank the screen...

I'm closing this bug, since the main issue has been fixed in g-d-s-2.6.10-r7. If the failing tty blanking is still a problem with this version of g-d-s, please report what fb driver you're using in a comment to bug #79131.
