Description Reuben Martin 2005-01-20 15:22:27 UTC
AmSynth will not build: it fails to configure properly. Could this be due to slotting?

checking for GTK-- - version >= 1.2.8... no
*** Could not run GTK-- test program, checking why...
*** The test program failed to compile or link. See the file config.log for the
*** exact error that occured. This usually means GTK-- was incorrectly installed
*** or that you have moved GTK-- since it was installed. In the latter case, you
*** may want to edit the gtkmm-config script: /usr/bin/gtkmm-config

which version of amsynth do you have installed?
Comment 3 Reuben Martin 2005-04-02 21:51:42 UTC
I don't have any version installed. I've never managed to get this to build. I was tying to install from ebuild 1.0.0.

I've recently tried to build this from the CVS without any success there either, (The current developement is moving this project from gtk1 to gtk2)

well, in that case we cant do anything for you. you have to use the package which we provide, works fine for me on amd64 and x86 (havnt tested on other arches).

you have to use the package which we provide

??? This IS using the gentoo package. When I said I also tried the CVS package, I meant only AFTER I couldn't get the ebuild to work.

Anyway, I finally get off my lazy butt and tracked down the source of the problem. This is using the 1.2.9 gtkmm oackage. My system origionally started out as a Gentoo 1.4 system. The gtkmm 1.2.9 package hasn't had a revision in almost 2 years, so I was using what was installed all the way back from 1.4. I re-emerged the gtkmm-1.2.9-r2 package and now the ebuild works fine.

ah. i see. i thought you were trying to install from upstream sources. :)
