Comment 1 Georgy Yakovlev archtester gentoo-dev 2021-04-23 20:46:01 UTC
is it a virtual machine?
you will not be able to build rust with 1gb of ram.
same for llvm.

try with at least 4G with -j2
Comment 2 Georgy Yakovlev archtester gentoo-dev 2021-04-23 20:46:45 UTC
golden rule for big C++ and rust projects = 2GB of ram per 1 unit of -j.
Comment 3 Lenard Smith 2021-04-23 20:52:13 UTC
Thank you for that! I was running that on a 1GB linode.....I may just go ahead and spin up something else....thanks for your quick response!
Comment 4 Georgy Yakovlev archtester gentoo-dev 2021-04-23 20:55:13 UTC
no prob.

also you can just use rust-bin with such low RAM, it's the upstream's tarball built by rust project.
Comment 5 Lenard Smith 2021-04-23 21:06:12 UTC
I just increased the size of the Linode to 2GB.
