When I try to run xfontselector, which has worked perfectly in the past, I am almost immediately sent back to the login screen.   This happened after an update of the system using emerge -uD world.   (I know the update affected fonts)

I removed xfontselector and re-emerged it, but with the same result.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. run xfontselector
2.
3.

Actual Results:  
Crashed back to the login screen.

Expected Results:  
Should have brought up the xfontselector app with current fonts available for
display.

The program compiles with no errors

what version of xfontselector?
does this only affect blackbox?

more to the point, is this a blackbox-specific problem? does it work as expected
on other wms?
