Description Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2005-01-16 15:42:59 UTC
konqueror doesn't save cookies and if I run the cookies-menu in the settings, i get this message:

Unable to start the cookie handler service.
You will not be able to manage the cookies that are stored on your computer.

Strange, kcookiejar is part of kdelibs:

# qpkg -l kdelibs |grep cookiejar
/usr/kde/3.3/lib/libkdeinit_kcookiejar.la
/usr/kde/3.3/lib/libkdeinit_kcookiejar.so
/usr/kde/3.3/lib/kde3/kcookiejar.so
/usr/kde/3.3/lib/kde3/kded_kcookiejar.so
/usr/kde/3.3/lib/kde3/kded_kcookiejar.la
/usr/kde/3.3/lib/kde3/kcookiejar.la
/usr/kde/3.3/bin/kcookiejar
/usr/kde/3.3/share/services/kded/kcookiejar.desktop
/usr/kde/3.4/lib/libkdeinit_kcookiejar.la
/usr/kde/3.4/lib/libkdeinit_kcookiejar.so
/usr/kde/3.4/lib/kde3/kcookiejar.so
/usr/kde/3.4/lib/kde3/kded_kcookiejar.so
/usr/kde/3.4/lib/kde3/kded_kcookiejar.la
/usr/kde/3.4/lib/kde3/kcookiejar.la
/usr/kde/3.4/bin/kcookiejar
/usr/kde/3.4/share/services/kded/kcookiejar.desktop

Maybe you was using konqueror from 3.4 in a kde-3.3 session?

I get the same with the qpkg-command.

> Maybe you was using konqueror from 3.4 in a kde-3.3 session?

No, I'm using kde 3.4, kdm 3.4 and nothing from 3.3. No idea what the problem is.
Comment 3 Gregorio Guidi (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-17 06:16:24 UTC
what if you do "dcop kded kded loadModule kcookiejar" from a console?
Comment 4 Hanno Böck gentoo-dev 2005-01-17 08:34:27 UTC
sorry, my fault. dbus wasn't running, kded needs it in 3.4.
with dbus, everything is fine.
Comment 5 Simone Gotti (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-17 08:39:08 UTC
mmm... I think this is a bug of kded or better of the media:/ kded part. As it shouldn't block kded if dbus isn't working.

If you can reproduce it, can you please open a bug (if not already existing) on bugs.kde.org? thanks.
