now that the gentoo-dev-sources are patched and recognize my cx24110 frontend again i've created the necessary udev rules to get /dev/dvb/adapter0/*. all there and nice but i doesn't work: This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.99.3. Best to take this up with the linux-dvb guys. Let me know if you find a fix. If they want to know, this is the patch we are using to readd the frontend: http://dev.gentoo.org/~dsd/gentoo-dev-sources/release-10.05/dist/4505_bt8xx-updates.patch
maybe could you check these posts: http://www.linuxtv.org/mailinglists/linux-dvb/2005/01-2005/msg00111.html it seems they made it work again and their patches might not break ioctl32, but it could be the amd64 arch too. if you can't tell anything from their posts, i'll subscribe to the list and bring the problem up there.
That is the thread that you pointed me to already and that patch is included in the one we apply in gentoo-dev-sources.
uhm... yes. sorry, about that link. not looked hard enough :). i've subscribed myself to the mailing list and will play test-subject for the devloper. i'll report back here for the progress.
Linux 2.6.11 includes the updates previously mentioned, so I think this can be closed. If there are still issues then please take it up with the DVB developers.
i'm running 2.6.11.2 and i it's still a no-go. i've had contact with the developers on their mailing list, but after i got no responses for a few weeks i've decided do leave the list again, because there was too much traffic with too little use for me. the problem is not resolved yet or at least i don't know how to resolve it. so what do i have to do? wait and pray or try the list again?
This is an upstream bug, theres nothing we can do. You could additionally try filing it at http://bugzilla.kernel.org
