Host OS: Gentoo with last updated portage ~amd64 and kernel 5.11.11 - 5.11.13 Guest OS: Gentoo with last updated portage ~amd64 and kernel 5.11.12 (5.11.13 the same issue) ...starting the guest OS in QEMU by Virtual Machine Manager opens the system console, in which the kernel starts loading and hangs immediately on the output of "Gentoo" word. Downgrade the guest OS kernel to version 5.11.11 solves the problem. Reproducible: Always
Could you add more information ? Like configuration, boot logs and the qemu command you are using ? For trying to reproduce the problem
(In reply to Alice Ferrazzi from comment #1) > Could you add more information ? Like configuration, boot logs and the qemu > command you are using ? For trying to reproduce the problem I'm sorry, I figured out the cause of the problem. It consisted in the fact that when the kernel was previously compiled, there was a link to bzImage in the /boot folder, and now, when something has changed globally, the kernel booting began to hang at the stage of unpacking it, today I had occasion to rebuild 5.11.11 and when it also hung, then it dawned on me, last time I restored the kernel image itself in the /boot folder and not its soft link, and therefore boot was successful, but the reason turned out to be in the soft link to the kernel. The bug can be closed.
thanks !
