I am aware of this bug: http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=69605 however my problem is slightly differerent, as I have correct permissions (as best as I can tell). It complains that it can't find the file also when it indeed exists. The results I get are as follows: # tail /var/log/qmail/qmail-smtpd/current @4000000041e7b43539cc4d84 tcpserver: status: 1/40 @4000000041e7b43539d9612c tcpserver: pid 19491 from 127.0.0.1 @4000000041e7b43601bba444 tcpserver: ok 19491 :127.0.0.1:25 :127.0.0.1::33652 @4000000041e7b43920b7639c X-Qmail-Scanner-1.24st:[srv1110570398168019492] cannot open /var/spool/qmailscan/quarantine-attachments.db - No such file or directory @4000000041e7b43a2da1bd64 tcpserver: end 19491 status 256 @4000000041e7b43a2da59d94 tcpserver: status: 0/40 # ls -la /var/spool/qmailscan/ total 92 drwxr-xr-x 6 qscand qscand 13 Jan 14 03:33 . drwxr-xr-x 8 root root 9 Jan 14 01:40 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Jan 14 01:40 .keep drwxr-x--- 5 qscand qscand 5 Jan 14 01:40 archive -rw------- 1 qscand root 31675 Jan 14 03:59 qmail-queue.log -rw------- 1 qscand qscand 82 Jan 14 03:33 qmail-scanner-queue-version.txt drwxr-x--- 5 qscand qscand 5 Jan 14 01:40 quarantine -rw-r----- 1 qscand qscand 49152 Jan 14 03:33 quarantine-attachments.db -rw-r--r-- 1 qscand qscand 7414 Jan 14 01:40 quarantine-attachments.txt -rw-r--r-- 1 qscand qscand 0 Jan 14 01:40 quarantine.log drwxr-x--- 2 qscand qscand 3 Jan 14 03:59 tmp lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 14 Jan 14 01:40 viruses.log -> quarantine.log drwxr-x--- 5 qscand qscand 5 Jan 14 01:40 working # cat /var/qmail/control/conf-common | grep qmail-scanner export QMAILQUEUE="/var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-queue" # ps aux | grep tcpserver qmaild 19462 0.0 0.1 2864 820 pts/3 S 03:59 0:00 /usr/bin/tcpserver -p -v -R -x /etc/tcprules.d/tcp.qmail-smtp.cdb -c 40 -u 201 -g 200 0.0.0.0 smtp /var/qmail/bin/qmail-smtpd mail.domain.com /var/vpopmail/bin/vchkpw /bin/true # ls -l /var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-queue* -rws--x--x 1 qscand qscand 3388 Jan 14 01:40 /var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-queue -rwxr-xr-x 1 qscand qscand 138662 Jan 14 01:40 /var/qmail/bin/qmail-scanner-queue.pl # emerge qmail vpopmail qmail-scanner -p These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! Is this still an issue? If so, can you try to attach strace (with follow fork flag) to the qmail-smtpd and push a mail into it.
