Hi all, I installed Gentoo. 1 with openRC + GNOME 3.38 + home encrypted with LUKS 1 with systemd + GNOME 3.38 With OpenRC only, keyboard is in qwerty layout at login. The layout french is okay when i unlock the LUKS home part at boot. Locale FR_UTF-8 set in the system. First time i logged in GNOME, keyboard was C locale. I set up into GNOME the correct keyboard (french) : OK If i lock the session, on gdm i have azerty keyboard. But at boot, gdm doesn't have french layout. Tried to disable wayland in GDM : no effect. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install Gentoo with OpenRC and profile 17.1/desktop/gnome 2. Set system locale to french 3. Install gdm + gnome and see the keyboard don't have correct layout (maybe the problem with other layouts) Actual Results: gdm doesn't have the system layout Expected Results: gdm use the system layout Only with OpenRC, not with systemd
Have you tried the tips listed here: https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/GNOME/GDM#GDM_ignores_my_keyboard_layout
The tip not work. I tried to disable wayland, to force gdm use xorg but not work
It is sad to read that you have problems with gdm. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis. We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems. I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3]. I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4]. Please reopen the ticket in order to provide an indication for an specific error in an ebuild or any gentoo related product. I don't know why... Why it works out of box with systemd and not with OpenRC ? For me it's a bug....
