These patches allow to search in mailman archives, a nice feature that probably many people want to have: http://www.python.org/cgi-bin/faqw-mm.py?req=show&file=faq01.011.htp Is there any chance these patches can get included in the mailman ebuild? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I would especially like the htdig integration patch: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=444884&group_id=103&atid=300103 It would require adding that patch and adding htdig (already in the tree) as a dependency.
I've created an ebuild using the patches provided on the sourceforge tracker. There is an additional patch required for htdig integration: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=444879&group_id=103&atid=300103 This compiles well for me with the suggested htdig patch and the indexer patch provided in the link above. There is an install manual provided here: http://www.openinfo.co.uk/mm/patches/444884/install.html There will need to be some type of INSTALL document created for how this all works. The install guide is quite ambiguous when it comes to providing details about making the installation work. I will document what I've done to get this working. The only issue I can see so far is that the htdig package is a bit of a mess in terms of file system organization. I've already had to modify access permissions to the htdig database and use some mod_rewrite voodoo to get stuff working correctly. I'll look more carefully into the htdig documentation to see if the patches can be altered to better support this type of integration with Gentoo.
These patches are all extremely old and unmaintained. Closing this bug after more than a decade. If anyone cares, it's probably best to discuss this upstream.
