I use gedit/interpretter sometimes to work a programming problem out and move back to vim once the method/issue is finished and working. I come back to gedit a few hours later and the instance is closed. I am using i3wm on an HP Envy x360. It uses a Ryzen 7 4700u series cpu. I dont see anything in the logs either. I can not see anything to start debugging. The situation seems to be a bit more complicate and requires some analysis. We can not help you efficiently via bug tracker. The bug tracker aims rather on specific problems in .ebuilds and less on individual systems. Try to locate the origin of the problem systematically. Test different window managers, start gedit from commandline and hope to get a message on STDERR and so on... I have had very good experience on the gentoo IRC [1] with questions like this. Of course there are also forums and mailing lists [2,3]. I hope you understand, that I will close the bug here therefore and wish you good luck on one of the mentioned channels [4].
