emerge wine-20050111 Fails with errors compiling olepicture.o Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge wine-20050111 2. 3. Actual Results: doesn't build wine Expected Results: build wine To fix: add =media-libs/giflib-4.1.3 ~x86 to /etc/portage/package.keywords then emerge libungif (Not 100% sure if this is required) and then emerge wine-20050111 It will compile fine.
if you have "gif" in USE flags, libungif is unnecessary, just update giflib.

do you guys have /usr/include/gif_lib.h when you get this error ?
I don't. obelix@localhost ~ $ ls /usr/include/gif_lib.h ls: /usr/include/gif_lib.h: No such file or directory
next question ... do you guys have either 'giflib' or 'libungif' emerge ?
I already built Wine-20050111 successfully before I reported the bug. I had to emerge media-libs/giflib-4.1.3 and then Wine-20050111 built and installed fine. libungif is a bit of a red herring - I installed this library because of advice in a newsgroup I found via google groups.
The "I don't" was with giflib 4.1.0 I updated giflib to 4.1.3 and now wine compiles fine. In both cases libungif is 4.1.3 ( did not install it directly , guess someone needed it )
ok, this is because libungif is bunk ... it actually deletes the header file that should have let you emerge wine ive added giflib to libungif's DEPEND so that the header file will be sure to exist

This bug is not fixed. I get it too.
Wait some time (a day) , sync (NOT using a local mirror) , emerge wine , and if you still get it - reopen the bug ( or submit a new one ). Probably the fixed version is not in your portage yet.
I reported this bug as Bug #81792. It turns out that, at least for me, this issue is directly related to Bug #18820. Re-emerging giflib solved my wine problem, but the issues raised in 18820 remain, apparenlty.
I still get the error. I am not allowed to reopen this bug. I have not tried reemerging giflib. I could do that, but I want this bug fixed.
Ok, then file a new bug , and wine maintainers should reopen this one. I forgot you can't reopen bugs you didn't submit.

Reopening, as this is still an issue, but somewhat depends on bug #18820 to be taken care of.
not a wine issue, dont re-open this bug please
