xow is a Linux user mode driver for the Xbox One wireless dongle. It communicates with the dongle via libusb and provides joystick input through the uinput kernel module. The input mapping is based on existing kernel drivers like xpad. It would be great to haven an ebuild for this. Reproducible: Always
This package currently exists in ::guru[1] if needed (as sys-kernel/xow, but I'd argue it should be games-util/ like xpadneo and xboxdrv to match) May alternatively want to consider said xpadneo if have bluetooth, I have the official dongle but I prefer to use that myself. I don't have bluetooth on my main computer and prefer using the wireless dongle as it tends to be more stable. The GURU project actually seems interesting, though I don't fully understand how to access it after reading the page. Is there some overlay that I can add to my portage for this? This is a fine alternative for me if I can emerge it easily that way. Just trying to prevent having to constantly manually compile and install packages every time I recompile my kernel.
If you have eselect-repository installed, then "eselect repository enable guru", or for direct git links: https://github.com/gentoo-mirror/guru.git https://anongit.gentoo.org/git/repo/proj/guru.git I haven't tested the xow ebuild from there but hope it works for you. It would be nice if it was moved to ::gentoo eventually, some ::guru packages do now and then.
This has been replaced by xone.
