Description PL Hayes 2005-01-12 04:41:32 UTC
slime-cvs now needs "tree-widget.el[c]" which does not appear to be supplied with the emacs 21.3 distribution.

Hi Paul, what version of slime are you using from portage?
app-emacs/slime-1.0.20050106 at least, installs tree-widget.el included in the
slime distribution.

Hi Matthew - it was slime-cvs not a slime snapshot and I've seen from the slime-devel list that it is really quite active so maybe they removed tree-widget very recently.

I normally use emacs-cvs but wanted to compare it with emacs (for an unrelated reason) so yesterday I emerged emacs and then re-emerged all the app-emacs stuff I use - including slime-cvs. Emacs has no tree-widget but nor did the slime-cvs I'd just emerged.

A few hours later I did the reverse procedure and I'm now back in emacs-cvs land with yet another slime-cvs and 'equery files slime-cvs' doesn't show any tree-widget files. The ones I do have came from emacs-cvs

For all I know, tree-widget could have reappeared in slime-cvs in the last 24 hours and you'll think I was dreaming ;-)

I'm sorry for the confusion. app-emacs/slime-cvs was only a temporary port
while slime was being developed rapidly last year in CVS only. Now that they've
had a 1.0 release and CVS has cooled down considerably, app-emacs/slime-cvs
should have been removed from portage. I will remove app-emacs/slime-cvs from
portage shortly (or at least mask it completely).

Please use app-emacs/slime instead (the last port being
app-emacs/slime-1.0.20050106 -- slime 1.0 plus a patch from 1.0 to 2005-01-06 in
CVS).
