Description Micheal Marineau (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-12 01:50:51 UTC
ck3 came out today and good reports on the ck list so far.

I'm posting this to let people know that r3 is coming, I got it ready to go but just have not yet committed yet because it doesn't seem to be playing nice with my boot process (various init scripts run slow or not at all). :-(

As soon as I figgure out what is mucked up I'll commit it.

Btw, in the meantime, are there any security patches that did not go into ck3 that should be in r3? I went through the security fixes in g-d-s and the only thing lacking that I found was part of the drm patch (for the i915 driver) so I added that.

this patch may be needed, although no one responded to the thread saying it indeed fixed the problem yet:

I was including that patch, but things still proved to be problematic. However I am currently running on the latest ckdev snapshot and things seem to be ok. Also, this was posted to the ck list:

ith the disappointment of the staircase10 bug creeping into ck3 and the superb new cfq iosched from Jens I have worked hard to try and prepare a ck4 to quickly replace ck3.
[...]
There is a critical section of code in staircase which decides on when to continue the past timeslice of a waking task or start a new one. I have rewritten it properly and cleaned it up a lot and have fixed the stupid behaviour in staircase 10.

I think I'll just sit on my hands and wait till ck4 is released.
