I have written up an ebuild to install the perlpanel-cvs package. It compiles cleanly on my system (however it should always be masked for obvious reasons). I did add one USE flag (to satisfy a bug marked dup in bugzilla, there are others that could be added if the dependent modules become part of portage) There are a few perl modules not in portage that are now dependencies for perlpanel, both CVS and .9. They are: 1.)Gtk2::TrayManager (.9 and CVS) 2.)Audio::Mixer (CVS) 3.)X11::FreeDesktop::DesktopEntry (CVS) I am more than willing to submit these ebuilds should the perl team want that. These blockers will become more important as we near a 1.0 release. (I am also willing to maintain the perlpanel ebuild should the perl team want help with that :) I can update the .9 ebuild with USE flags and dependencies after the module ebuilds are there. Thank you very much for your time.

ping :)
Hey there Nathan, Sorry I haven't touched this "bug" yet. Truth is, I don't have the time/energy to maintain a CVS build atm - enough problems with the builds that are supposed to be stable :) I'm going to go ahead and leave this bug open - if enough people clamor (don't think we have voting enabled in bugzilla - too bad in this case) I'll look at posting it. No hard feelings, Mike
No Problem, I certainly understand. Thanks for leaving it open so folks can leave their 2 cents here. Thanks for all the hard work on the "stable" perl stuff, we japh's appreciate it!
Created attachment 62980 [details] Modified ebuild for savannah cvs I tried the old ebuild and quickly noticed that the perlpanel cvs had moved. This ebuild should work.
I'm going to move this over to maintainer-wanted@g.o and leave myself as a cc:. Not that I don't relish the idea, just don't have the time to support something like this :)
Sorry, we are not adding live VCS ebuilds into the tree. Either get this into some overlay or attach an ebuild for a regular release or snapshot at least. http://www.gentoo.org/proj/en/devrel/handbook/handbook.xml?part=3&chap=1 WONTFIX meanwhile.
