With 2004.3-r1 I only get to the "... switch consoles ... common symptom .. FAQ" message, then nothing happens. The console is setup correctly - I have no problem booting universal-2004.2. I don't know if this is related, but 2004.3-r1 seems to be about 60m smaller than 2004.2 - which I thought is unusual? (I'm new to gentoo, so ...)
I think it's a problem on the 2004.3 livecd having a problem with the mux serial console driver. For now you'll have to stick with the 2004.2 livecd but you can't still use 2004.3 stages of course :) I'll create experimental 2005.0 livecd soon.
