The kernel on 2004.2 has JFS support, but the livecd universal CD-image does not include any JFS-utilities (such as fsck.jfs and mkfs.jfs). Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
What about 2004.3?
Apologies, I should have mentioned it - I tried (universal) 2004.3-r1, but had to revert to 2004.2 as it (apparently) wouldn't boot on my HP J280. I was thinking of opening a bugreport on that too, but didn't quite get that far.
Last time we tried jfs it was really unstable and hang the box after a fex minutes. That's why it's not included. I'll consider including it on the 2005.0 livecd.
This is the first time I'm trying to bring up hppa-linux, but I've been using JFS for almost 2 years - since about 1.1.2 I think. I'll look forward to 2005.0 - jfs is all we use here (on IA32).
just because jfs is stable on x86 doesnt mean it's stable on hppa ;)
Agree. Are there any indications jfs is not stable on hppa?
There is a new livecd here : http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/gentoo/experimental/hppa/livecd/ Can you try it. This one should work. Thanks
Sorry about the late feedback - yep, looks good. Thanks.
