Clipboard in Firefox running under Wayland (GNOME Wayland) doesn't always work: 1. text copied outside firefox into any firefox window. 2. text copied from firefox window does not paste outside firefox. 3. text copied in firefox window can be past as it should be in firefox window 4. text copied from keepassxc can be paste in firefox and other applications when the issue exist sometime I need to restart firefox and the copy/paste may work for a while, but later it does not work. the issue seems to be related to wayland and have been there for a while. Here is some reference I found: 1. seems to be fixed: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1631061 2. same issue with kde: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1567762 3. fixed for kwayland: https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=411682 currently installed version: www-client/firefox-86.0 dev-libs/wayland-1.18.0 dev-qt/qtwayland-5.15.2-r1 Reproducible: Always
Copy and paste in plasma wayland is also broken or works strange. Copy by marking with mouse is very strangly broken. Beetween other applications too. latest live ebuilds from qt and kde overlay in use
firefox has been update to www-client/firefox-87.0, the problem still exist though much better, at least not so frequently. But to say, copy from other application like nautilus or gnome terminal may also fails sometime, I may have forgot it, but the issue seems to be there at least for several months as I have experienced, though not frequently as this time. Several days ago, I switched to gnome on X11, copy and paste works well(but ctl + shift + c/p does not work in terminal, strange ...), X11 still have the best compatbility, but to say that it does not support more flexible scale of multiple monitor, and the display performance(e.g. play a video with celluloid) is obvious much poor than wayland, I switched back to wayland yesterday, and thanks to god, maybe for some of the update, the frequency of copy-paste problem is acceptable now ...
I can confirm the bug but on latest version of Firefox does not appear anymore. Can you confirm too @giskard?

Closing bug as OP confirmed the problem doesn't happens on newer versions
