I have a cron job for that purpose: 00 00,04,08,12,16,20 * * * /root/bin/rsync-sources.sh The most relevant content of the script is: RSYNC_DIR="/mirror/gentoo" RSYNC_MIRROR="ftp.ussg.iu.edu::gentoo-distfiles" RSYNC_BIN="/usr/bin/rsync" RSYNC_OPTIONS="--exclude=/releases/historical --verbose --update --delete --recursive --links --perms --times --devices --delete --timeout=300" ${RSYNC_BIN} ${RSYNC_OPTIONS} ${RSYNC_MIRROR} ${RSYNC_DIR} >> ${REPORT} 2>&1 The output is emailed to me. From my point of view every attempt to sync is completed. Could be the server I am syncing to "ftp.ussg.iu.edu" is off a little?
Thanks for helping out Gentoo. I have added your mirror to our list at http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml. Please start synching from masterdistfiles.gentoo.org as the email I have sent to you instructs. We would like you to subscribe to the gentoo-mirrors Mailing List by sending an email to gentoo-mirrors-subscribe@lists.gentoo.org, as we send out notifications of updates, releases, and changes in policy to the mirrors. Once again, thanks for the hardware and bandwidth! For Infrastructure, Jeffrey
