When someone emerges kde or kde=base, a message should be displayed informing the user of the configuration guide available from the Gentoo Doc Project and its URL [The KDE Configuration HOWTO (http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/kde-config.xml) ]. Please note the X config guide is not included as a separate bug has been filed for it. This addition would help new users figure out how to setup KDE and it's related packages on their own. This would reduce the number of repetitive questions about configuring KDE asked on the forums and irc. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I think that the reference to the X config guide was appropriate, because X has to be configured before it can be used, however probably for kde the situation is a bit different: the guide mainly explains how to install it, while configuring it is a rather small part (and kpersonalizer is rather self-explaining). Moreover, the message should be added at the end of kdebase or kdebase-startkde, probably ending up in the middle of other merges and being lost. So, I fear it could not be a useful addition, unlike the message for X. Any opinion?
I've never actually used kde, so I will defer to you as to what to do.
It seems no other one is interested, closing.
