The viewcvs-ebuild wants apache to be installed .. but apache isn't needed. Please remove apache from RDEPEND. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I second this request. I have recently set up viewcvs-1.0_pre20050523 to work with the latest stable lighttpd with no modifications needed at all. All I did was edit the ebuild and remove the apache2 requirement.
Perharps a virtual for cgi engines would be welcome.
You don't even need cgi. ViewCVS also can run in standalone server mode, no separate server required.
Thanks for the heads up, sorry about the crappiness in that part of the ebuild. I'll look into that as soon as I can. Any patches would be liked!
New ebuild snapshot that fixes this issue. Please try viewcvs-1.0_pre20050929 and reopen if you have issues. I'll eventually convert the older (stable) ebuilds to this format after this one has been tested.
