When I close my xterm (konsole, Eterm, etc.) with running mc, it doesn't killed. It stays in process table and eats over 90% of CPU. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Run xterm and exec mc 2. Close xterm 3. See mc in top Actual Results: mc keeps staying in process table and eats cpu Expected Results: mc should be killed Portage 2.0.51-r3 (default-linux/x86/2004.3, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r0, 2.6.10-nitro2 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.10-nitro2 i686 Celeron (Mendocino) Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r5 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 Binutils: sys-devel/binutils-2.15.92.0.2-r2 Headers: sys-kernel/linux26-headers-2.6.8.1 Libtools: sys-devel/libtool-1.5.2-r7 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -mtune=pentium2 -march=pentium2 -mmmx -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/ share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/X11/xkb / usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -mtune=pentium2 -march=pentium2 -mmmx -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/home/distfiles/" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.osuosl.org http://212.219.56.146/sites/www. ibiblio.org/gentoo/ ftp://pandemonium.tiscali.de/pub/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 X acl alsa apm arts avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdparanoia cdr crypt cups encode fam fbcon flac foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif gpm gtk gtk2 ipv6 jpeg kde libwww mikmod mmx motif mpeg ncurses nls nptl oggvorbis opengl pam pdflib perl png python qt quicktime readline scanner sdl spell ssl svga tcpd tiff truetype userlocales xine xml2 xmms xv zlib" mc ebuild: mc-4.6.0-r12
please reopen, if you can reproduce the problem with gentoo-dev or development-sources
With gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.9-r13 and gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.10-r1 had the same.
Not a MC bug. Some apps (e.g., top) hangs too. Possible glibc bug (recompiling now).
