So I used ALSA_CARDS="intel8x0" since this was mentioned in other bugs as a
possible solution. With this I get this error:

i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -D__KERNEL__ -DMODULE=1
-I/var/tmp/portage/alsa-driver-1.0.7-r4/work/alsa-driver-1.0.7/include

Now I'm lost... :-/

Please set ALSA_CARDS in /etc/make.conf and also report this bug upstream at https://bugtrack.alsa-project.org/alsa-bug/

Also, try the 1.0.8 versions.
