So I can duplicate this to the impatient...
this time no DUPL, i'm impatient though :)
Please update this in the portage tree. It was released Jan. 6th
And you, good sir, can be happily reminded that I have a job and lots of other things I do besides Gentoo. Therefore I'll tell you that I'll get to it when I get to it which will probably be tonight. This bug was created for the sole purpose that I KNEW I wasn't going to be able to get to it today and that I KNEW people were going to ask for it. Ok, I'm going to work now.
there should be more than one guy to update these kind of things...
There is one problem for me to make ebuild, nvu-0.70 doesn't work here, it compile after removing mozilla/config.*, but hangs when I run nvu-bin. If anybody already had compiled it, and ran, succefully let me know how you do this. thanks
Ok "Derick" was it. You can fix the compilation issue with nvu and the latest freetype 2. I mean.. unless you want me to put broken things in portage.. because that's just the kind of person you seem to be. I applaud you for being so unselfish. Anyways, 0.7 is having freetype2 issues that I'm working on trying to get fixed upstream. I've already sent the appropriate email to the upstream mailing list and await their reply. That is all.
Look Chris... I didn't mean to piss you off here, but some of us are relying on you guys for our program installation. If it's not in portage, I can't install it. And I really don't want to have to boot into Winblows just for one program. The whole reason I use Gentoo is because of portage making it somewhat easy to install programs. Linux is a nightmare to install software on, and I thank you for taking up the task of figuring it out for people with less experience at it. Thank you. But there's no reason for you to explode at me for saying "Please update to the lastest version". If you would have just said that there was a problem and someone was working on it, that would have been fine. I seriously hope that the Gentoo guys are paying you well for your work, but if so...you need to act a little more professional. Take out your frustrations somewhere else than the damn bugzilla...
"Take out your frustrations somewhere else than the damn bugzilla..." I don't recall using this level of vulgarity. Please look at your own words. "If you would have just said that there was a problem and someone was working on it, that would have been fine." I explained that in comment #3, but then you say "This is why there should be more than 1 person working on these kind of things." which I considered a very hurtful statement. If you want to know the true story, I picked up nvu because no one else would. I went in there, studied the build system, and actually got it into portage (included getting a number of arches to mark it as well, getting it into the best stage for users to try out). Would I mind another person helping on this? No, but like I said.. no one else wanted to pick it up. "I seriously hope that the Gentoo guys are paying you well for your work" No, I don't get paid not one cent for my work. In fact, sometimes I actually use my own money to help Gentoo (example, I sent another developer a wacom tablet, all the finances came straight from my pocket). Do I want to get this out? Yes... Am I getting any upstream response? No. At some point I plan on maybe looking at the code and seeing if it can be updated, but the firefox codebase (what nvu is now based on) isn't exactly the smallest piece of work. I also have classes and work on top, so time is limited for me. I don't want to come off wrong, but I don't like it when people assume I have all the deticated time in the world for gentoo and that I don't care when their bugs don't get fixed.
Upstream has responded regarding the issue, and hopefully this will be nice and in the bag. Apparently what happened was that config.cache (which is created upon running config) was added to the 0.7 branch. This means that things broke (configure wasn't run because the build system saw config.cache and sorta just stopped there). I should have a quick hack up by _MAYBE_ today (I say maybe because I go to school, come back, and nearly immediately go to work (oh the fun :).
Ouch, or not. I tried the fix and it didn't work. I've notified upstream (again) whose slow response was due to mail bouncing from the list. That said.. still waiting...
Chris there is soon to be a bug files for me to become a dev dude all I can say is I love how they whine when something breaks but if you look at all there emerge info they use ~x86 which has known issues LOL. For all those that cant show a little patience and professionalism I suggest you find another distro why should someone who takes time out of there day have to put up with the trash you want to talk to them? On the other hand those who wait I applaud you for showing your true professionalism on bugzilla yes I know sometimes it is hard to wait when some bugs are old and have the solution sitting there but you still hold your tounge! Hats off to those that wait and for those that done kiss my ****ing *** and all other devs too!!!
Chris if you want I can attach the freetype patch but this is same patch I used for 0.60 and 0.80 which does apply cleanly. It is on both 0.60 and 0.80 bug reports.
Yah, I actually tried the freetype patch.. it worked with 0.7... but now I'm getting this nsProfile issue :|
Chris that is cause you have to create a new config you cant use same config from 0.60 with 0.70 every version of the mozconfig has changed in some way or another you can see that with the ebuild I put up for 0.80
is in portage, closing
