When trying to manage an image collection using gtksee 0.6.0_beta1, I tried to rename several files using the edit-->rename menu option and the ctrl-r shortcut. In both cases, I was limited to a filename of 10 characters in length. even dos did better than that! Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. have image 2. attempt to rename 3. type in a long file name Actual Results: would not take input beyond 10 characters (including period, etc) Expected Results: let me use long filenames root@ukyou Sam's Cache 2004 # emerge info Portage 2.0.51-r8 (default-linux/amd64/2004.3, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r0, 2.6.9-gentoo-r1 x86_64) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9-gentoo-r1 x86_64 AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3000+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.8 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4 [2.3.4 (#1, Oct 24 2004, 15:16:24)] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.8.5-r2, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.7.9, 1.9.3 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r2 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r2 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="amd64 ~amd64" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O3 -pipe" CHOST="x86_64-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O3 -pipe" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="ftp:///ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/ http://gentoo.seren.com/gentoo http://gentoo.binarycompass.org http://gentoo.mirror.sdv.fr" LDFLAGS="" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="amd64 X acpi alsa berkdb bitmap-fonts cdr cjk crypt cups dvd esd f77 fam flac fortran gdbm gif gpm gtk imlib ipv6 jp2 jpeg libwww lzw lzw-tiff matroska mikmod motif multilib ncurses nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam perl png python readline sdl slang ssl tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts usb userlocales xml xml2 xmms xpm xrandr xv zlib"
yeah, don't use gtksee, use gqview. It's much nicer. I'm going to mark this bug UPSTREAM since it's really a limit placed on the interface by the upstream developer. Since I can't get ahold of them, I imagine that soon I'll just remove gtksee from portage. It doesn't seem to be under development anymore.
