Description Charles Mauch 2002-09-09 13:27:33 UTC
adding a "use logger" dependency in the pcmcia, hotplug, and apmd init scripts
cleans up the output of the boot process quite a bit and redirects output of
those softwares to syslog (or whatever logger you use).

Hmm. I like that good suggestion. I'll add it in.
Comment 2 Chad Huneycutt (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-10-21 18:52:34 UTC
I need to figure out what our policy is about this. Technically, everything
could use logger, which means that rather than add that to every init script, it
might be better to force the logger to start as early as possible.
Comment 3 rob holland (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-16 08:26:14 UTC
This is too complicated imho, as logger can depend on net, which can depend on pcmica (so hotplug too) :/

Its possible that apm could have this added but apm doesn't actually depend on logger in the real sense of the world so I'd prefer not to do this.

I'm going to close this I'm afraid. Feel free to re-open if you violently object.
