The ebuild of mplayer-1.0_pre6 points to an uncorrect source file. The file must be

SRC_URI="mirror://mplayer/releases/${MY_P}a.tar.bz2

instead of

SRC_URI="mirror://mplayer/releases/${MY_P}.tar.bz2 ...

Note the 'a' after the version.
