When I did setup all environment locale variables to "sk_SK", ran mc is still in English. Maybe is something wrong in base system configuration, maybe not. Localization not works anywhere: console, X, remote ssh session. Problem was consulted on the forums and IRC channel. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.I did setup /etc/locales/build for entries: sk_SK/ISO-8859-2 sk_SK.UTF-8/UTF-8 en_US/ISO-8859-1 en_US.UTF-8/UTF-8 during instalation (from stage3) 2.after install of base system and first reboot I did setup LANG="sk_SK" and LC_ALL="sk_SK" as environment variables in /etc/profile: listing: morb@marduk morb $ locale LANG=sk_SK LC_CTYPE="sk_SK" LC_NUMERIC="sk_SK" LC_TIME="sk_SK" LC_COLLATE="sk_SK" LC_MONETARY="sk_SK" LC_MESSAGES="sk_SK" LC_PAPER="sk_SK" LC_NAME="sk_SK" LC_ADDRESS="sk_SK" LC_TELEPHONE="sk_SK" LC_MEASUREMENT="sk_SK" LC_IDENTIFICATION="sk_SK" LC_ALL=sk_SK 3. I have compiled mc-4.6.0-r12 with +nls in USE flags 4. when I try to run mc, it is still in English, but previous instalation on the same computer was shown after these steps in Slovak Actual Results: I think, mc is very good software and I understand English, this problem is just cosmetic :-) I will to use EN mc, no problema :-) Expected Results: Offers Slovak menu and dialogs after start if "sk_SK" is set-up-ed in locales.
if localization works nowhere, it's not an mc problem, could you fix it meanwhile?
not a midnight commander problem, could you fix it?
Localization works fine as well in other applications, but not in mc. Written bug not works in mc RUNNING in text console, XWindows consoles or via ssh, nowhere. Maybe mc is not translated into SK and my previous post is not bug report.
at least i have this here: /usr/share/locale/sk/LC_MESSAGES/mc.mo
did you compile mc with the USE-flag "samba"? in this case try to compile mc without samba. it seems to be a problem samba. check this bug 102903 too.
Please, try with 4.6.1 and report back. Thanks.
