make error

TLDR:

As suggested on https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Canon_Pixma_Printer, I am requesting support for CANON Pixma G5000 series printer.

Long story:

I followed the instructions on https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Printing and "succesfully" added the printer via the browser frontend for cups. That is, I copied the PPD file canong5000.ppd (found in canon's website as a tar.gz file under the directory /ppd) to /usr/share/cups/model/. And followed the instructions on the web interface. When trying to print something, there was an error:

"File "/usr/libexec/cups/filter/cmdtocanonij3" not available: No such file or directory"

and so I tried to compile by (README Install file on one of the untarred Canon's downloaded files):

1) Building "cmdtocanonij3".
        ./autogen.sh
        make
        make install

But then a compile error occurred (file uploaded). There seems to be no support for this printer in Gutenprint (http://gimp-print.sourceforge.net/p_Supported_Printers.php).

There was this package:

net-print/cnijfilter2

that contained proprietary drivers for my printer.
