try making your window size about 900 px and click on "back to sundara varna", and a flash window should appear over the mouse cursor. with net-www/netscape-flash-6.0.81, firefox 1.0 immediately crashes under xorg-x11-6.8.0-r3, as soon as the page begins to load. i downloaded install_flash_player_7_linux.tar.gz from http://www.macromedia.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&P2_Platform=Linux and copied libflashplayer.so from this file into /opt/netscape/plugins/libflashplayer.so and the page no longer crashes. /usr/bin/firefox: line 88: 15257 Segmentation fault $mozbin "$@" Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.window size about 900px 2.http://www.tribe.net/template/pub%2CViewPhoto.vm/context/tribe?currentoffset=1&parentid=4b782b33-f39e-446b-9cd8-bbfd3398cd5d&sortby&r=1 3.click on "back to sundara varna" (and make sure cursor will be over where the flash loads) Actual Results: /usr/bin/firefox: line 88: 15822 Segmentation fault $mozbin "$@" Expected Results: not crashed
I also emerged netscape-flash plugin and do not have such a problem. (Also, /opt/netscape/plugins/libflashplayer.so already exists.) Could you please list the USE flags you compiled with? Mine are... net-www/mozilla-firefox-1.0 -debug -gnome +gtk2 +ipv6 +java -ldap -mozdevelop -moznoxft -mozxmlterm +truetype -xinerama -xprint net-www/netscape-flash-6.0.81 +gtk
also problems with firefox and flash plugins here. browse to an flash enabled site for example this one http://www.heise.de/newsticker/meldung/56195 the flash is shown as expected but if i leave the page, like clicking on a link (href also on heise.de) firefox crashes with segfault. same error as described in this bug report. but on line 392 of /usr/bin/firefox. i "fixed" this problem with emerging latest flash plugin in portage. (see emerge history below) the problem started after i updated some packages on my notebook. im sorry but i dont remember exactly after which ebuild to problem appeared. On my system firefox hangs instead of crashing, when I go to a page with flash. I had it under control a bit when using gplflash, but with that it actually crashed SOMETIMES. mozilla-firefox-1.0.4 netscape-flash-7.0.25 I also tried having firefox download netscape-flash-7 instead of using the one from portage, same problem. I think the problem is in firefox and not in netscape-flash because I think it started happening when I upgraded to firefox-1.0.4 from firefox-1.0.3.
I just varified it IS firefox. I tried using netscape-flash-6.0.81 and had the same problem :(
(In reply to comment #3) Non apple laptop users have power managment too! There is an eject key, and the system still supports suspend. I'm not sure about LCD brightness on the apple LCD screens, or CPU frequency scaling, but I assume they support that too. It's not just laptops that can pbbuttonsd.
This is the error I get with mozilla-firefox or mozilla-firefox-bin with netscape-flash 7.0.25. Is this related to use of old hw? (voodoo3). I'm using gentoo-sources-2.6.12-r9 The program 'Gecko' received an X Window System error. This probably reflects a bug in the program. The error was 'BadMatch (invalid parameter attributes)'. (Details: serial 99 error_code 8 request_code 144 minor_code 3) (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously; that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it. To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.) firefox-bin exited with non-zero status (1)
We have no way to track problems in netscape-flash as it is a binary. You might wanna try to file a bug upstream if this is still an issue in latest release of flash plugin.
