gq installs fine, but won't save any changes I made to the preferences, even when run with sudo. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Install gq-1.0_beta1 2. Run gq, add a server in the preferences 3. Kill gq, restart Actual Results: Changes I made to the preferences are gone. Expected Results: Saved the preferences. Created attachment 47142 [details] strace log of gq session This is an strace of a gq session where I simply added a server to gq and then exited.
Usually I would say it's a beta version, so take it upstream to its developers. But in this case there didn't happened anything in cvs for thirteen months, so I'd say, this package is more a candidate for removal from portage. Gnome herd: It's an unmaintained Gtk app. Would you take care of this one, please? :)
why us ? dragonheart seems to have been happily 'maintaining' it while not adding his nick to the metadata file (?) I suppose it's up to him to remove it.
I'm not sure about 'happily'. Does /home/wyvern/.gq-state reflect the preferences you set? does gq-0.6.0 or gq-0.7.0_beta2 work? Is it functional useful without saving preferences? Is there another alternative program? net-nds/luma net-nds/jxplorer net-nds/directoryadministrator
>why us ? Because it's more likely to find someone being interested in it in the gnome herd, than any other herd.
.gq-state does not reflect the saved information after gq closes. The problem is not a permissions one, as information *is* stored in it between sessions (verified with diff). Tried gq-0.7.0_beta2 - this one wouldn't even start, dying with a segmentation fault: wyvern@enigma ~ $ gq Gtk-WARNING **: invalid cast from (NULL) pointer to `GtkWidget' Segmentation fault gq-0.6.0, however, works. So I'll work with that one for now. I like luma but it lacks schema browsing. jxplorer won't even work for me (filed another bug report) and directory_administrator is an account administrator, not an LDAP browser.
Ok I'll remove gq-0.7.0_beta2 and keep gq-1.0_beta1 unstable keyworded? Is this acceptable? I realy don't want to debug this code to fix it.
removed gq-0.7.0_beta2 . Won't fix version 1.0_beta1
