This is a bug report for the stable version of apache. I know this is fixed in the masked version. # ls -al /usr/lib/apache2/logs lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 16 Dec 29 13:20 /usr/lib/apache2/logs -> /var/log/apache2 # ls /var/log/apache2 ls: /var/log/apache2: No such file or directory Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Oh, and ofcourse: # /etc/init.d/apache2 start * Starting apache2... (2)No such file or directory: apache2: could not open error log file /usr/lib/apache2/logs/error_log. Unable to open logs
Is this different than bug 71741 (duplicated in bug 75129)?
bug 71741 says "fixed in apache-2.0.52-r2." -- I just checked and -r1 is still the latest stable version. I dont use masked software like many (most?) people, so therefore this is either a request to get this fixed in -r1 or get -r2 unmasked. Thanks.
This is caused by a missing directory symlink from /usr/lib/apache2/log ~~> /var/log/apache2 aswell /var/log/apache2 is not created by either apache or the ebuild while installing. Aswell the ssl engine's mutex dir is missing. see bug 79014
Fixed in CVS (stable - apache-2.0.52-r1).
