As per the manpage time adjustments >128ms should be logged which isn't happening. The only thing that gets logged is the ntp engine ready/terminating and the ntp server now valid/invalid messages. If I run it in non-daemon mode everything is logged to stderr as expected. Downgraded back to 3.6_p1-logging works. One other thing: with the new 3.6.1_p1-r1 a permanent connection is established with my 3 ntp servers upon startup and not released until the service is stopped. This can't be right, it should only poll the server not stay connected to it the whole time the service is running. Verified w/netstat and again, 3.6_p1 work as expected here. emerge info: Portage 2.0.51-r8 (default-linux/x86/2004.3, gcc-3.4.3, glibc-2.3.4.20041102-r0, 2.6.9-gentoo-r9 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9-gentoo-r9 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2600+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.8 Python: dev-lang/python-2.3.4 [2.3.4 (#1, Dec 10 2004, 13:07:34)] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] dev-lang/python: 2.3.4 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.59-r6, 2.13 sys-devel/automake: 1.8.5-r2, 1.5, 1.4_p6, 1.6.3, 1.7.9, 1.9.3 sys-devel/binutils: 2.15.92.0.2-r2 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.10-r2 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.8.1-r1 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86 ~x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.mirrors.pair.com/ http://mirrors.tds.net/gentoo http://gentoo.seren.com/gentoo http://mirror.datapipe.net/gentoo ftp://mir.zyrianes.net/gentoo/ ftp://ftp.gentoo.mesh-solutions.com/gentoo/" LDFLAGS="" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="x86 3dnow 3dnowex X acl acpi alsa avi berkdb bitmap-fonts cdparanoia cdr crypt cups dvd encode fbcon flac foomaticdb fortran gdbm gif gpm gtk gtk2 imap ipv6 java jpeg libwww live mad mikmod mmx mmx2 motif mozilla mpeg ncurses network nls nptl nptlonly oggvorbis opengl pam pdflib perl pic png ppds python quicktime readline real rtc sdl spell sse ssl svga tcltk tcpd tiff truetype usb xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib"
For me, the logging issue is fixed with an upgrade to openntpd-3.7_p1
3.7_p1 moved to stable, thanks
