Hello.

Many other locales have such alias but ru_RU not. Why?

Many advices on forums.gentoo.org on this subject tell us to use xx_XX.utf8. But this leds to errors like:
Gdk-WARNING **: locale not supported by Xlib, locale set to C

So. Please add this line into /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/locale/locale.alias
ru_RU.utf8: ru_RU.UTF-8

In one moment I'll add a patch to simplify the proces.

Please file this upstream at bugs.freedesktop.org and post the URL here.

Check that it's not fixed in 6.8.99.x first.
