Description Christian Hesse 2004-12-27 12:27:44 UTC
A plus character (+) in the kernel version results in a system that cant boot, the scripts complain about errors in /sbin/functions.sh and various other scripts.

you neglected to post any real information so i can only assume you did it wrong

it works just fine for me with 1.11.8:
$ uname -a
Linux phear 2.6.10-rc3+somehax #5 SMP Mon Dec 27 19:09:15 EST 2004 i686 AMD Athl
on(tm) Processor AuthenticAMD GNU/Linux

if you're not using baselayout-1.9.x, then upgrade

Works for me if the plus is in the middle of the string as well (i.e. 2.6.10-cko1+x), but reports errors if the plus is at the end (i.e. 2.6.10-cko1+). This is with baselayout 1.11.7-r2 as bug# 74786 prevents me from using 1.11.8.

2.6.10+ works, but 2.6.10-cko1+ does not
Comment 4 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2005-01-30 11:18:41 UTC
rewrote the funcs with ciaranm's help in pure bash so it should work for all cases now
Comment 5 Christian Hesse 2005-01-31 05:12:06 UTC
Works fine. Thanks!
