It would seem that while not meaning to commit 2ffacd6316e707c5b6c7da98ba0eb6585ba51dec ended up being about cargo-culting. Though it would seem a part of the problem existed before. Despite both 'addns' and 'python' being under 'multilib_native_use', that commit added ${MULTILIB_USEDEP} to deps under those useflags. The part that likely did exist before was dev-python/subunit dep. If the commit correctly put it under 'python' usedep, that one should have been striped of ${MULTILIB_USEDEP} too.
Seems like this has been fixed at some point, do you still see any problems in current samba ebuilds?
