gcc and sandbox don't play nicely together.  try this:
# FEATURES="-sandbox" emerge gcc

feel free to reopen if you still have issues.

i'm setuping gentoo 2005.0 on amd64, becaus don't re-emerge glibc, i switching
to 2004.3... But here there was a problem with multilib, Here that occurs.
Search on forums and bugzilla has not brought results...
