Description Michael Huber 2004-12-22 14:29:39 UTC
gtkmm-2.4 is in the tree since august, can it be marked stable? I can't see any important bug-reports for it.
Comment 1 Morten Brix Pedersen 2005-02-10 11:34:37 UTC
It is ridiculous that gtkmm is marked unstable. The new upstream versions of gtkmm and glibmm are much more stable and featureful than earlier versions. No serious bugs have been reported against them.

Several applications are now depending on this new upstream release, and thus can't be marked stable which is causing users to stick with old, outdated software.

couldn't agree more :)

Does anyone in the Gnome herd have any information on current blockers to gtkmm 2.4 going stable, or any rough timetable for when gtkmm 2.4 is likely to be marked stable?
Comment 4 yair 2005-03-15 15:06:47 UTC
latest stable version is now 2.6
Comment 5 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-15 15:34:34 UTC
No it isn't, I believe you are referring to gtk+. Just updated CVS and currently gtkmm-2.2.12 is the latest version stable on x86, and gtkmm-2.4.1 is the latest stable on amd64. gtkmm-2.4.8 is the latest available version of gtkmm - which I would like to see stable on x86 and amd64. The release of gtkmm-2.6.1 was announced on 14 March this year.

A explanatory update, our wannabe *mm dev is stuck in the jungle atm (literally) & the gnome team is sort of busy with more 'core' activities. So, if someone here with commit powers feels the urge to help out a bit with the *mm maintenance it would be appreciated, for further guidance on what & how, poke us on IRC.
Comment 7 Morten Brix Pedersen 2005-03-15 16:02:41 UTC
I have no commit powers, but I can tell you that the gtkmm 2.4 package is incredibly stable. What more is required?

I think gentoo is going in a wrong direction if a simple update of a package from unstable to stable cannot be done without manpower.
Comment 8 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-16 17:19:27 UTC
I have marked dev-cpp/gtkmm-2.4.8 stable on x86 and amd64.

Thank you!
