I emerged gimp-2.2 today and found that it requires media-libs/freetype-2.1.7 or higher. Freetype is masked above 2.1.5-r1 in /usr/portage/profile/package.mask. Compiling The GIMP 2.2 is fine, but produces an error message upon first run about requiring freetype-2.1.7 or higher. I removed the mask and emerged Freetype-2.1.9 and it ran fine, however I am wary as the package.mask comment said it 'breaks things'. Could someone investigate? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
I get the same thing on both AMD64 and IA32.
Same here
What's more, why isn't freetype a dependency of gimp at all? I can't see it referenced in the gimp-2.2.0 ebuild. It should be in there as: >=media-libs/freetype-2.1.7
Fixed in CVS.
