the error is produced on the console from which the app was run after hitting the print button and just before the print dialogue hits the screen. from google search it seems that this bug affects all distros and any prog using this print dialogue. ie gedit , abiword , gnumeric to name a few. It seems to be very generalised and independant of hardware/printer model . Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.open blank document in gedit or abiword 2.print 3.doc never goes to printer, close app and see error msg on console. Actual Results: on closing abiword I see: (AbiWord:29619): GnomePrintCupsPlugin-WARNING **: iconv does not support ppd character encoding: ISOLatin1, trying CSISOLatin1 after gedit: (gedit:5791): GnomePrintCupsPlugin-WARNING **: iconv does not support ppd character encoding: ISOLatin1, trying CSISOLatin1 Expected Results: That the document goes to the spooler.
http://sysadminforums.com/t79142.html seems this issue related to the gnome 2.6 print dialogue and has been around since at least March 2004
further info: in abiword hitting print preview throws the same error to console. Subsequent print does not repeat the error. presumably document convertion/formatting before dialogue is invoked. HTH
what about gnome-2.8or gnome-2.10?
