Description tt_1 2020-10-18 18:14:24 UTC
hey there, I'm using ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de as my rsync mirror in sync-uri. Turns out the server transfers files which indicates it is in the middle of some update:

--------------------------------------------------------------
The features compression (-z) and checksums (-c) are disabled.

More information about this server is available via HTTPs:

this happens quite often, is this a misconfiguration on my side?

here's my repos.conf/gentoo.conf:

sync-allow-hardlinks = no

sync-type = rsync
sync-uri = rsync://ftp.halifax.rwth-aachen.de/gentoo-portage

I guess switching mirrors is the only way. and ofc mirror needs to be taken out until restore is complete.
Comment 3 tt_1 2020-10-23 05:55:00 UTC
so, has the mirror been taken out of rotation?
Comment 4 Georgy Yakovlev archtester gentoo-dev 2020-10-23 15:53:49 UTC
I'm not on infra but it seems it has been taken out today from rsync.{de,europe}.g.o. Can't verify though.
